Mr. Peterson is the owner and principal consultant of M. C. Peterson & Associates, LLC. Mr. Peterson founded M. C. Peterson & Associates in 2000 as an independent, non-product affiliated full-service consulting firm. Drawing upon 30+ years of industry experience, M. C. Peterson & Associates performs security risk assessments, security surveys, technology audits, policy and procedure development, integrated electronic security design, and project management to clientele across diverse market segments. Product technology expertise include: intrusion detection, physical access control, video surveillance, RFID tracking, parking control, and communication systems.

As former chairman of the SIA Access Control Standards Subcommittee, Mr. Peterson managed activities related to access control and identity management. Working groups within this subcommittee focus on developing and publishing SIA Standards related to access control and identity and participates in relevant initiatives specified by the U.S. Federal Government. A landmark achievement included Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) TLS profile. From initial site studies, through design, construction, and commissioning, M. C. Peterson & Associates provides technical expertise throughout the development cycle, collaborating with planners, architects, consultants, program managers and construction managers to deliver high-performance buildings, infrastructure and communities.
Our consulting services are holistic in nature. The client’s operational environment and culture are considered before identifying technical solutions. The first step is to work with the client to evaluate existing conditions, organizational goals, system performance, and staff protocols and procedures. Technology selection must align with the client’s unique capabilities and expectations.

Effective collaboration provides the client with a one-stop source for best-of-breed solutions.
Mr. Peterson conducts physical security informational sessions for American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), BICSI, American Museum Association, International Foundation of Cultural Property Protection, and the Smithsonian Security Conference. He is a faculty member for ASIS Asset Protection Course 1 (APC1) and a participates as a judge at Security Industry Association’s (SIA) New Product Showcase (NPS).
